RECONCEPTUALIZING THE TEACHER’S ROLE: A FACILITATIVE APPROACH THROUGH THE LENS OF EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
Abstract
This study examines the role of the teacher as a facilitator in the learning process from the standpoint of educational psychology. This position indicates a change from traditional teaching methods to a more student-center, ed and participatory approach, which is consistent with constructivism philosophy, which emphasizes the value of students' individual experiences and active learning. Furthermore, in accordance with social constructivism theory, the social and collaborative components of learning are acknowledged by establishing a learning environment that encourages student collaboration and engagement. Lastly, in their capacity as facilitators, teachers are crucial in helping students by offering them constructive criticism and emotional support, both of which enhance the learning process and students' emotional health. Teachers who take on the role of facilitator can therefore improve the effectiveness of learning and help students acquire the abilities and attitudes that will be crucial to their success in the future.
