Abstract

Community policing is a collaborative approach that fosters partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the public to enhance security and trust. In Pakistan, community policing has been introduced as a strategy to improve crime prevention, strengthen police-public relations, and enhance overall security. However, its implementation faces several challenges, including lack of institutional support, limited public trust, inadequate resources, and resistance within law enforcement agencies. Despite these challenges, community policing presents significant opportunities, such as improved intelligence gathering, enhanced crime prevention, and strengthened community engagement. This paper explores the current state of community policing in Pakistan, identifies key obstacles, and highlights potential strategies for its effective implementation. By adopting a more inclusive, transparent, and resource-driven approach, Pakistan can overcome existing barriers and make community policing a sustainable and effective model for law enforcement.
